However, he then reveals his true intentions, and the "recruits" are taken to a holding cell before Darius picks them up. Hunter soon regrets his actions, and stops Darius from taking the team away.

Hunter wakes up, with his magenta eyes now brown, and reveals he knows of Flapjack's sacrifice. As the portal closes, Luz reveals that she helped Belos meet the Collector, but Hunter and the others do not blame her. Everyone, except Vee, heads to the Demon Realm, with him being the first to cross. At the Halloween Festival, Hunter, Gus, Amity, Willow, and Luz explore the festival when they come across the haunted hayride where the guide tells them the story of the Wittebane brothers where he learns he was based on Belos' older brother Caleb.
When Belos possessed him, parts of Hunter's skin, left ear, and face became basil-green that spread to his arms, turning them into the ones of Belos' corrupted form while also gaining the blue eyes and antler-like horns of the latter. After being healed from Flapjack's sacrifice, Hunter received tissue scarring in the areas Belos corrupted and his eyes became brown. Four years later, Hunter has become an accomplished palisman carver and bonded to a new palisman, a blue jay named Waffle. After Luz finds him, she steps on a potion and they two end up in Belos' mind. They fall through a painting and find themselves in a forest of dead trees with memory paintings on them. Hunter and Luz explore the painting to find Belos preaching to a crowd how the Titan I desired them to have controlled magic as explosions occur. As Hunter takes notice of the good Belos has two extra, they see him reprimanding a Golden Guard for nearly killing him and instructs him to blow up the town.

Amity Blight (voiced by Mae Whitman) is a student at Hexside; she is an abomination expert and works part-time at the Bonesborough Library. Initially, she appears to be an petty and cold-hearted top student, who bullies those she feels are inferior to her. When Luz arrives, she unintentionally causes her to lose her cool in front of her teacher and Principal Bump; she also loses her top student title when she nearly gets Luz killed.[23] In her next appearance, she begins to hold severe disdain towards Luz, blaming her for getting her in trouble and mocking her dream of becoming a witch. This leads Luz to challenge her to a witches' duel, which will determine whether Luz will continue witch training.

The way people will attach themselves to the character or see themselves as Hunter is something I guess I never expected. However, he shows that he isn't completely heartless, as he shows concern for Belos' condition and wants to help. Under the cloak was a golden-yellow tunic with darker sleeves and a dark brown belt, black leggings, dark brown gloves, and boots. Hunter begins losing control of himself and peels of a bandage to find that Belos has entered his body through the cut on his finger and takes off after seeing him again, separating from Luz, but when she finds him, Belos has completely overtaken Hunter and forces him to attack Luz against his will. Camilla rescues Hunter and Belos releases him as he escapes, with Hunter dying, only for Flapjack to revive him at the cost of his own life, which Hunter is immediately made aware of and mourns him.
In another painting they see Belos tell lathe survivors of a destroyed town that wild magic is to blame. Hunter seems to be willing to take Amity up on her offer to go with her, but upon seeing the portal key on Amity's neck, he quickly turns on her and tries to grab the key off her. A fight ensues, with Hunter (with the help of Flapjack as his palisman) fighting both Amity and King in an effort to get the key. Hunter and Amity eventually stalemate each other, and he manipulates her into giving him the key by saying that he knew where to find both her and Luz.
Amity reluctantly obliges, but Hunter immediately betrays her by tripping her down and rushes towards Eclipse Lake. Later, after realizing what Luz's messages truly meant, Amity tries to console Hunter by telling him that there are people out there who won't make him feel worthless, and offers him her hand. However, Hunter sees the key dangling from her neck and attempts to grab it, resulting in a fight between the duo. Hunter and Amity eventually come to a stalemate, but Amity is forced to hand the key over when Hunter threatens Luz's safety.
When Hunter went undercover at Hexside to recruit some students for the Emperor's Coven, he at first believe they weren't fit for the team, but after playing with them during the game he gets along with them and decided to name them the Emerald Entrails. After remorsefully betraying and taking them to the Emperor's Coven, he decided to save them from Darius. He lets them go and claims they were unfitting for the Emperor's Coven, he even starting his own website and started talking with them. They later show gratitude for him by allowing him to hide out in the Healing homeroom and later showing concern for where he has been. After teleporting to the Titan skull, Hunter has made amends with his friends and returned to his cheerful self.
This heavily contributed to the insecurities Hunter possessed over his artificial origins, as he felt ashamed and fearful that his friends would reject him for being the clone of a witch hunter. Hunter first met Willow while going undercover at Hexside to recruit some students for the Emperor's Coven. He had impressed her with his flying skills, which made her decide to ask him to join her flyer derby team. Though Hunter was reluctant, he decided to join her team, upon hearing flyer derby would attract the best witches. While looking for recruits for the flyer derby team, Hunter and Willow slowly formed a friendship.
